Underfloor heating
The heating system for a house or apartment “warm floor” appeared on the market relatively recently, but consumers quickly liked it. Over time and with the development of different technologies, this benefit of civilization is no longer an example of luxury. Installation of such a system does not take much time and is not a problem. Manufacturers offer their customers a wide variety of warm floors with different types of installation.
The main task of this product is to heat the room. Quite often, such systems are installed in bathrooms and toilets under the tiles, since it is this surface that quickly cools down and causes discomfort in a person. Also, some floor installers install cables under the parquet flooring, which makes the rooms more comfortable.
Absolutely all systems are divided into four main types – water, cable, film, rod. The last three are based on the electrical form of work. Heating is carried out due to the heat available in special cables through which electric current flows.
Cable systems are especially popular. They are divided into several types, which should be considered when choosing the right product. Also, when choosing a product, it is advisable to immediately look at accessories and additional details. All the necessary products for different types of heating systems can be divided into the following types:
- Single-core cable. The product is a cable of a certain diameter. It is made from nichrome, galvanized, brass, and other materials. When electricity is applied, they begin to heat up due to the effect of resistance. The power density of such a system is low, so they will have to be installed at a small distance from each other.
- Two-core cable. Much easier to install than the previous type. Two heat conductors increase the heat power of the system, making it more ergonomic and easier to install.
- Mats. Device for a water-heated floor. They are made from expanded polystyrene. Due to them, the loss of heat is reduced, and it is directed upward. The mats are resistant to mechanical stress and deformation. They perform such main functions – they increase the reliability of the floor, the safety of neighbors below, protect the thermal insulation from the effects of cement screed, and can also soundproof the room.
- Films. It consists of two layers of dense polymer with a heating element. Easy and convenient installation of such a system. It can be installed without additional concrete screed coating. It is laid under laminate, parquet, carpet, tiles, and other coatings.
- Thermoregulators. An obligatory detail that allows you to increase the efficiency of the warm floor and the convenience of its operation. It helps to regulate, turn on, turn off the system, fix the operating mode for a specific time of the year. When choosing, it is worth considering the power, since the correct operation of the entire device depends on the correct ratio and the collection of all parts.
The warm floor has many positive properties. The main advantages include an even distribution of heat throughout the room, the absence of convection currents, and a stable room temperature. When properly installed, heating levels can be easily adjusted and safe and durable use is assured.
Each type of system has its advantages and disadvantages, and before choosing them, you need to familiarize yourself with all the indicators. You also need to know and understand what kind of coating you can install on a warm floor.
The water installation has a low price for equipment and all the necessary elements. They also have cheap heat carriers, which significantly reduces the payment for using such a system. However, the reviews of many consumers say that during installation it is necessary to observe a special technology for pouring screeds so as not to damage the elements. Such a system is also not suitable for apartment buildings, since the water from the canals then flows to other neighbors at the tap.
Cable underfloor heating has good performance indicators and the same low costs for further consumption. But in the process of operation, the system generates electromagnetic radiation, and the installation is expensive.
The most versatile is the film coating, as it is combined with finishing materials. On top of this system, you can put laminate, tiles, linoleum, carpet. The system consists of many hidden contacts that need to be thoroughly tested, so the installation period can be complicated. When laying on the top surface, additional waste appears.
