Membranes

The word “membrane” literally translated from Latin means “skin”. As a rule, it is used as a partition or overlap. In this case, we are talking about a film that is placed under the roof as a hydro and thermal insulation layer. Thanks to such membranes, the structure is protected from moisture, the steam, wind, and other external influences.

Today, there are a large number of options for such materials. They all differ in their basic properties. Therefore, to correctly choose the most suitable variety, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of the roofing, the shape of the roof, the purpose of using the premises, and, of course, the wishes of the owner.

Depending on the purpose and functions, membranes can be of several types.

  • Waterproofing materials prevent the ingress of moisture from the external environment. Often such materials are vapor-permeable, that is, they release steam from the room to the outside.
  • The vapor barrier does not allow water vapor to pass from the inside of the room to the roof structure.
  • Super diffusion ones protect the building from moisture ingress from the outside, release steam from the inside of the room and facilitate their escape from the roof structure.

To choose the right building film or membrane, you need to take into account not only the specifics of the use of the room but also the structural features of the roof. For example, for complex structures, it is better to use the superdiffusion option, and for simple structures, a waterproofing construction membrane film is also suitable.
